Arts & Ales Festival 9/10 Street Closure

Neighbors,

Please save-the-date for this year’s Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival, on Saturday, September 10th 2016. This year, the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation is partnering with the Brewers Association of Maryland to produce the Arts Festival, which will continue the nine-year’s old arts tradition in Hyattsville, while adding an exciting new dimension: incorporating a craft beer festival held at the same time. Merging the two, we now have Hyattsville’s Arts & Ales!

We’re preparing for an expanded event site with booth and vendor placements on the 4300 blocks of Gallatin and Farragut Streets and Church Place, and in the municipal parking lots between the two streets. This new set up will allow for a greater mix of arts exhibitors, intermingled with the craft breweries, and there will also be food vendors and food trucks, and some new organizations joining us.

Please be advised, there will be altered traffic and parking patterns on these blocks starting at 2:00 AM and continuing until 8:00 PM.  We’ve been working with the City and the Brewers Association to address residents’ questions and concerns, so the event can run as smoothly as possible, both day-of as well as in the weeks leading to the event. Please contact my team at festival@hyattsvillecdc.org or (301) 683-8267 with any questions or comments.

Our intent is to continue operating a family-friendly event. We expect excellent crossover appeal for the merged festival audiences, which will lead to an increase in visitors to the Festival overall. View a site map online here.

Entry to the Festival grounds will be free: but access to the beer will not. The festival’s beer tasting passes (for ages 21+) will be $30 in advance via our secure, online portal at http://hyattsvillearts.com, and tickets will be $35 for purchase at the gate. That will be the only way to enjoy the craft brewers on site. Individual beers will not be available for purchase. You are welcome however to bring a growler from home or purchase one anew and fill-up on your new favorite beer on your way out. We will have a refrigerated growler-check-in, so you won’t need to drag the growler around with you.

Our organizational focus will remain the same: supporting and making accessible a thriving creative community for Hyattsville and the Gateway Arts District. Our new venue will allow for more exhibiting artists and arts organizations to promote the creative life. We hope you’ll join us as we grow and evolve.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, September 10th.

Warm Regards,

Stuart Eisenberg
