G Henna Design LLCAll Natural Exotic Henna Tattoos Representative Name: Galley Saleh Media: Craft Location: Alexandria, Alexandria City, VA
My name is Galley Saleh and I am a henna artist with 12 years of experience providing beautiful free-hand henna tattoos and designs that are temporary. I graduated from The College of William and Mary with a degree in Public Health and work in that sector currently. Henna is a passion I have had since the age of 12 and have pursued in any free time I have available! Throughout college I used henna to raise funds for organizations such as cancer foundations, building schools in third world countries, and other such causes. I grew to create this into a business and still do fundraising events as well. My henna is all-natural and leaves a beautiful stain that deepens within 24-48 hours. I take special request designs and also freestyle using my creativity! I have design book that clients can choose from varying from children’s designs, adult small designs such as zodiac signs and popular symbols (peace sign; infinity sign; cancer awareness signs). I also have traditional henna designs from the South-Asian countries, Middle East and gulf-inspired designs, and African designs. My smallest designs start at 5$ and the most popular design is 10$ a hand. I also have glitter henna where I sprinkle your choice of glitter on your new henna design! At the end of the henna application, I apply after-care balm for my clients and also provide henna-after care instructions so that they achieve the best possible henna stain. I also sell henna tubes for around 6$ a tube for clients who are aspiring henna artists. My clients can find me at festivals, birthday parties, corporate events, baby showers for belly blessings, fundraisers, weddings, etc. At the festival I will have a beautiful display with traditional elements from henna parties (which you can see in pictures attached to this application). I promote my business through Instagram: ghennadesign & Facebook: G Henna Design and through happy customers! |

Riverdale Park Youth Doll Study Club FundraiserFundraiser for Children’s Fine Art Dolls Representative Name: Emily Fanning Media: Craft Location: Riverdale Park, Prince George’s County, MD
Our dolls are wood finial head, wood arms/legs in 1800 fashion 10 in tall. The girls hand draw the face on the finial and hand paint the features. Other doll club members finish the cloth bodies and 1810 clothing. The people who gave us grants before think we should be selling these dolls & putting the money back into the program. We showed the dolls last year at the Hyatts Fest sharing the booth with Malika . The girls each have hand made 1 doll complete which takes about 6-9 months @2 hrs per week. They have chosen to do all the faces which is very hard. Last year we sold 3 total at different fairs. Last year the dolls were juried by a fine arts gallery as Children’s Fine Art Dolls for $135.00 up to be sold in fine art places. |

Products from Hyattsville honey bees. Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) honey in liquid, cream, and comb form. Handmade soaps made using CNG beeswax, honey and sometimes Propolis (bees create Propolis from the resins of trees and use it to seal cracks and insulate their hive. It gives beeswax its’ smell. We use it finely ground in some of our soaps). Other products include body butter, lip balms and molded beeswax ornaments. Kids (and adults) love our observation hive of honey bees where they can look for the queen and watch the bees in action. This year we hope to partner with a local artisan/beekeeper who will turn our CNG beeswax into candles, but that is still in process. We love our bees and sharing them with the community and can’t wait to come back for our 3rd festival! Our hive products have received over 20 blue ribbons in the 2014 and 2015 County and State honey shows. We also received the Grand Champion and Best of Show awards at the Montgomery County Fair in both 2014 and 2015! In 2014 our honey received 1st place at the Maryland State Fair (we weren’t able to enter in 2015). |

Techniques I’ve used include traditional cane-making, texturizing, and cutting out shapes with the clay – hearts, ovals, circles, diamonds – to construct both simple and elaborate designs. All elements in each piece are made by me – beads, pendants – (except the hardware and closures). AUDIENCE + PRICE POINT Polymer clay is versatile, inexpensive, and the color range is incredible. I offer a spectrum of styles and price points – there is truly something for everyone: kids, girls, 20-30 something men, and women of all ages – from bohemian hipsters to well-heeled ladies. Prices range from $10-$325. |

Graphiti Gems – JewelryFine, Handcrafted Wire & Bead Jewelry Representative Name: Wanda Jackson Media: Jewelry Location: Seabrook, Prince George’s County, MD
Launched in 2015, Graphiti Gems – Jewelry markets my fine, handcrafted necklaces, earrings and bracelets. I design jewelry intuitively using different techniques such as hand-shaping metals, wire wrapping, soldering and beading. Designs incorporate faceted gemstones, freshwater pearls, venetian and czech glass, semi-precious and precious stones, Swarovski crystals, 925 sterling silver and gold-filled wire or non-traditional materials like steel and found objects. Materials are handpicked and purchased from legitimate sources. My dream is that my handcrafted jewelry appeals to the individual who has a sense of individuality, values exquisite workmanship, and appreciates unspoken recognition as a member of the Graphiti Gems circle. The world around me is my inspiration. Growing up in the South and living in the Washington-DC Metro Area, I have a lot to draw upon — paintings, sculpture, music, sports, dance, history, theater and nature. Whether I’m viewing abstracts at the National Gallery of Art, listening to spoken-word artists at a local cafe or exploring the countryside, the world around me shows that the creative combinations of colors, textures, patterns, shapes, language and symbols are endless. Each jewelry item is unique and may have slight variations from piece to piece, which is what makes fine handcrafted works beautiful. I am a self-taught jewelry designer. To produce quality, unique pieces, I have honed my skills through books, videos, classes and fellow-designers willing to share their expertise – from beading and wire wrapping to forging and soldering. My first project was a freshwater pearl and glass necklace followed by beaded earrings and a copper pendant. Now, it’s an obsession! Everyday, I continue to learn and create. |
Kamarelo Designssimple designs, bold colors |
Kamarelo Designssimple designs, bold colors Representative Name: Katherine Amarelo Media: Jewelry Location: Arlington, Arlington County, VA
Kate & Moose jewelry was created after endless searching for colorful stud earrings that were both work and play appropriate. Designed with the modern busy woman in mind, ease of care is very important. Whether your running after kids or busy climbing the corporate ladder, taking off and putting away jewelry at the end of a long day isn’t always your first thought. With life at the forefront of Kate’s mind in creating Kate & Moose, 99% of jewelry pieces are made with Argentium silver. Argentium silver is more resistant to tarnish making it a busy woman’s dream come true – easier to wear, keep, and store. The most important part of Kate & Moose? The color! Kate’s process is simple; pretend to be a child and play with chalks and pastels and paints and see what color develops. Be it on a canvas or in a notebook, once a color is formulated, it’s mixed into resin and poured into bezels. Selecting the boldest, loudest, and every once in awhile soft color, seasonal colors are added twice a year. |

Madison ExpressionsUnique, handcrafted, wire-wrapped gemstone pendants Representative Name: Diane Traylor Media: Jewelry Location: Silver Spring, Montgomery County, MD
My relationship with each stone begins as it catches my eye. It may be the color palette, the vivid greens and reds of red creek jasper or the electric blue of a lapis that remind me of a midnight sky, complete with flecks of gold like twinkling stars. Next, I swirl wire to provide a cradle for the stone, careful not to obscure its beauty. I purchase stones wherever I travel and select each one based on its unique characteristics. I use non-tarnish silver plate wire and compliment many of the pendants with gemstone or crystal accents. For my rarer finds, I use silver or gold filled wire. Each pendant comes with a 24 or 30 inch chain necklace and gift box. |

I create sculptures inspired by differential geometry then scale them to create jewelry in cast sterling silver and bronze. Each piece is printed on one of two 3D printers which I built specifically to create my work. Each print becomes one piece of jewelry, as it is directly cast in metal. I use three finishes. Matt/high polish, various colors of patina or crystalline bronze which reveals the crystals inherent in the casting. Necklace pendants are coordinated earrings are designed, 3D printed, cast and finished in my studio. |

Reinvented EleganceJewelry, mosaics, & pressed flower art |
Reinvented EleganceJewelry, mosaics, & pressed flower art Representative Name: Joyce Wagner Media: Jewelry Location: Alexandria, Alexandria City, VA
I have a great time creating jewelry, mosaics, and pressed flower art featuring many natural, found, recycled, and upcycled materials In designing jewelry, my work features wire-wrapping, beads, resin, and crochet and showcases everything from pressed flowers and acorn caps to tiny thrown-away treasures I pick up on the streets such as colored broken bottle glass and tiny washers and screws. I also delight in searching out vintage zippers, buttons, game pieces, fabrics, papers, trims, spools, and shells to upcycle into many of my jewelry pieces. Once I have pulled together the perfect components, I create a jewelry piece that will best showcase these unusual materials. Each piece of jewelry is one of a kind and so much fun to make! When I create my mosaics I draw inspiration from my lovely stash of chipped/broken cups and dishes, stained glass scraps, broken mirrors (for sparkle!), recycled tiles, Potomac River glass and seashells, and glass marbles and shapes, as well as my collection of tiny figurines. I carefully prepare each mosaic base, then painstakingly glue each tiny component to it. When the glue has cured, I grout and seal each mosaic. In making my pressed flower art, I roam the fields of Alexandria, VA, to find beautiful wildflowers and leaves – such a treasure hunt! I carefully press each specimen in my microwave flower press and store the pressed flowers and leaves in recycled telephone books. I use glue and a toothpick to attach each flower and leaf featured in my pressed flower art. Thank you for considering me as a returning vendor to this year’s Hyattsville Festival. I am now in my 13th year of selling my art, and have been fortunate to be a vendor at many juried markets in the DC area. As an artist, my goal is to make people smile by creating whimsical pieces that showcase nature’s beauty and reinvent as many things as possible along the way. I love my job so much it doesn’t seem like work at all, and create each piece with great joy and enthusiasm. I hope everything I make reflects this happy karma |

In 2009, while living in New Orleans, I founded YB Green Jewelry. At the time (and currently) there was no glass recycling so I began collecting glass bottles from my community in the 9th Ward and soon after creating jewelry. YB Green will be rooted in New Orleans, but I currently live in the DC area, continuing to collect discarded glass from communities that are not recycling, melting them into beautiful jewelry. Recently, I’ve been incorporating silver and vintage chain to make statement earrings and necklaces. |

Art by HollisterEarthy, curvaceous, colorful, textured, and natural Representative Name: Dana Hollister Media: Painting, Drawing + Mixed Media Location: Silver Spring, Montgomery County, MD
My art embodies how I feel about nature. In the past few years, I have become even more intrigued by the complexity of natural formation and how to render them. By applying my wispy style of line with ink, paint, and even carving tools I have been able to express the motion needed to replicate the amazing ability that nature holds as well as create my own visions as to how it should be. A lot of my works are landscapes, but as of late I have turned toward an abstracted way of creating my paintings. This new way focuses on the process of the piece rather than just the finished product. The viewer can see the layers of paint that I have gone over as well as places were I decided to carve it out. I would be exhibiting my older works that are a little more realistic as well as my newer pieces that represent process. |

Jay is drawn to creating portraits. He starts most portraits with the eyes for he believes they capture the essence of a person’s being. Jay’s burgeoning style strategically places patches of vibrant oil colors on canvas to form beautiful faces. The use of multiple colors represents the multiracial aspect of humans. No one is of a pure race; people have much more in common than the differences society tries to emphasize. Through his art, Jay would like people to focus on the commonality of humanity. |

Laurence Chandler Fine ArtBold, Jazz-like Abstract Paintings & Prints Representative Name: Laurence Chandler Media: Painting, Drawing + Mixed Media Location: Seabrook, Prince George’s County, MD
As an Abstract Expressionist, I create mixed-media paintings using fabric, wire, acrylic, paper and found objects on paper and canvas. My paintings are well-crafted works, characterized not only by careful attention to color, form, line and composition, but also highly improvisational and spontaneous techniques. My paintings, like free-form jazz and poetry, suggest human emotions, a narrative, experience or drama, and invite viewers to become interwoven in his art. My work, both figurative and abstract, is spiritual, colorful, uplifting and provocative, giving it universal appeal. My themes focus on family, political change, cultural experiences and tradition. As a full-time painter, I have produced a wide-ranging body of work that is in public and private U.S. collections. My work has been acknowledged in select juried venues and exhibitions in the Washington-DC metro area, Tennessee and California. And, I have self-published numerous works. Recently, I launched a signature collection of wearables — scarves, chic tees and men’s pocket squares — which are marketed through an online socially-conscious, green manufacturer. When looking to the influence of other artists, I have enormous respect for Abstract, Expressionist, collage and color-field painters. Chief among them are Varnette Honeywood, Sam Gilliam, Jackson Pollock, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Picasso and Peter Paul Rubens. |
